The ideal candidate must be dependable, a quick learner with excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced legal environment, with great attention to detail, that will greet clients in a friendly professional manner, and have reliable transportation.
This position requires basic office skills such as faxing documents, scanning documents, filing, answering phones, taking messages, maintaining files, preparing correspondence, forms, and legal documents using Microsoft Word.
Furthermore, employee will also be responsible for picking up and delivering legal documents at courthouses, law firms, and other places as directed in various counties in and around the Greene County area.
Responsibilities Greet and welcome guests as soon as they arrive at the office Creating hard files for new clients and updating existing hard files as necessary Direct visitors to the appropriate person and office Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls Send out new client emails and responding to daily client emails Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and material (e.
g.
pens, forms, etc.
) Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries Ensure filing fees have been paid Accepting cash payments, writing receipts, and depositing payments Proofreading documents and ensuring all information is accurate and signatures/notarization have been completed as necessary Update calendars and schedule meetings, hearings, depositions, court reporters, etc.
Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, copying, scanning and faxing Drafting various documents and other correspondence as directed Send out closing letters Responsible for picking up and delivering legal documents at courthouses, law firms, and other places as directed in various counties around the Greene County area (MUST HAVE OWN FORM OF RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION) Skills Proven work experience as a Legal Assistant in a family law practice Ability to work autonomously Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.
g.
fax machines and printers) Professional attitude and appearance Solid written and verbal communication skills Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise Excellent organizational skills Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks Ability to work within firm created policies and procedures Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies or Paralegal Certification - Preferred but not required Job Type:
