This position would float to classrooms as needed in the Greeneville/Greene County area.
Must be available to work M-F during the hours of 7:
30 am to 3:
30 pm (shift time may vary during these working hours).
This is a full time position (typically working 30 hours plus per week) with approximately 6-8 weeks of temporary lay-off during the summer months between May-July.
Employees are eligible to apply for unemployment benefits during summer lay-off.
Health insurance and elective benefits continue during summer lay-off.
All employees return to work the last week of July each year.
The Head Start Teaching Assistants at UETHDA are part of a team designed to provide all children with a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
The Teaching Assistant is responsible for assisting the Teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum for the children in the classroom in accordance with the program policies, guidelines, philosophy, and the Head Start Performance Standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists in promoting social and emotional development of children and in maintaining classroom discipline using positive guidance techniques.
Assists in organizing classroom maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment; teaches children safety precautions and procedures on the bus to assure the safe arrival of all Head Start Children to and from the center.
Observes, assesses, refers, and evaluates each child's progress in assigned classroom, and assists in planning and implementing classroom activities based on individual needs of the children to advance physical and intellectual competence.
Makes home visits as required, assists with parent meetings, and maintains positive communication with parents and community participants regarding program activities and objectives.
Provides support services to families by working closely with teacher and component staff to keep them informed and to obtain assistance.
Assists in preparing and maintaining records and submitting reports to meet Performance Standards and work plans; attends meetings and required training.
Demonstrates work habits which comply with agency personnel policies and procedures, and completes special assignments from Teacher, Team Leader, Education Manager, or Head Start Director.
May ride school bus to assist getting children on off the bus.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED; Prefer C.
D.
A.
(Child Development Associate) or must be willing and able to obtain a CDA within 2 years of hire date (paid for by the Agency); One year experience working with preschool children; Proficient written and verbal communication; Basic use of Microsoft Office Programs; Must undergo Criminal Background Screening and Physical Exam Preferred Education & Experience Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Two years experience working with preschool children.
Work Environment/Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Occasional standing to file documents, make copies, faxing, etc.
Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, bending, standing, reaching, sitting in the floor, and running after children.
Must be able to ride the school bus and get on and off with children.

Current Salary:

00/hour based on Early Childhood education (degree) and FT status.
All subs are paid $11.
25 per hour.
Updated salary with a 5.
6% COLA range from $12.
50 to $14.
25/hour based strictly on education will occur as soon as funds are made available by the Office of Head Start and expected late summer.
